2020 has been a terrible, terrible year for our industry.
Some of our industry players have closed, some have stopped operating, some have scaled down and some are pivoting into retail.
The way we interpret the market at TGIF Bazaars, the eco-system of popup markets and will not be back till late 2022, let alone recovery. At Phase 3, there are still no news that we can start operating.
And because we believe so strongly in win-win-win, we decided NOT to pivot towards retail popups where only the landlord wins, leaving the organisers and merchants to undertake business risks. This, in our opinion is not equitable, to us and to the small home based businesses whom we serve.
Effectively immediately TGIF Bazaars is no longer logistically self sufficient. We have removed, and are still in the process of removing our logistical inventory - our easily recognisable tents, electrical fittings, canvas sheets, cables etc so that we can save on warehousing space and rental. This is a time where we are fighting for survival.
Though we have shed off our logistical inventory, our knowledge, skills and abilities in organising popup markets are still with us.
Our form may have changed, but our spirit and core values are still the same - Win-Win-Win !
Stay tuned with us, for when the time is right, we'll share with you what we're pivoting into.
The Team from TGIF Bazaars
Pop-up Markets are temporary markets that spring out of spaces. Although the forms of marketplaces may be rather similar - their objectives, nature, content and time-periods can be very different. E.g. Festive Bazaars, weekend; artisan, food, handicraft, flea and even cause-driven markets.
Our Team at TGIF Bazaars can assist you when you embark on Pop-up Markets as a channel for your business activities, whether you are :
events or fellow pop-up markets organisers
entrepreneurs looking at organising markets
merchants, or sellers
human resource department / trainers looking at using pop-up markets for organisational learning / training
